Apart from how they look, is there any appreciable difference between this mouse and this one? Those of you that have used both, did you notice a difference when using them?

i think its nuts and bolts differences- the second one probably has a higher scan rate optical sensor. something like that.

i would get the one you labeled "this one"

be sure to check out the logitech 510x. its also wired. i currently have a wireless m$ and am thinking of switching do to it getting out and a very annoying "lag" for the mouse to respond sometimes.

I'd recommend a Logitech MX300 mouse.
It's a basic two-button plus scroll mouse, fits in either hand, but uses the fantastic Logitech MX sensor circuitry. Very responsive even at high mouse speeds (better than most other mice) and no lag.
I have one at work and love it.
Plus, it has a little button just behind the left/right which can be programmed to activate Exposé. No driver required.

does this mouse suffer from any "latency" issues such as if you've been reading a web page, then you move the mouse. The mouse will sometimes not respond for ahalf second or so?
