Is it possible to buy an oxford chip and build your own firewire case? I am hoping it is and is cheaper...

I think this is what I was looking for: http://eshop.macsales.com/Catalog_It...;Item=MIGATAFW

Want to upgrade your old FireWire case to the latest Oxford 911 version, or upgrade your SCSI case to FireWire? Miglia’s ATA/FW KIT is the easiest and most affordable solution!
It allows 2 IDE drives to be attached and is $59.00. Anyone find anything cheaper?

I feel like posting to my own thread again...

Anyways, here is an idea I just had. Buy a cheap $30 pc case, purchase some HD's and the item above. Connect the HD's to the internal power supply on the pc. Connect the IDE cables to the firwire bridges. Connect firewire cables to Mac. Turn everything on. You now have a lot of extra HD's! Someone should turn this into a viable product... You could have space for 6 HD's and 4 CD/DVD drives! Hmmm.... I think I will offer this in a little while. I think it could be cool. Total cost: $59 per chip, $30 for case, $100-200 per HD. :-)

FireWire Depot sells FW400 and 800 bridgeboards. I bought a 4-bay SCSI enclosure off eBay for $25, installed two bridgeboards and plopped in a couple 80GB, a 60GB, and 45GB drives I had leftover after upgrading drives in a couple PowerMacs.

It's not that cost effective, really, but it saves in electrical outlets.

Hmm they are a little pricey... I think I will stick with the ones I found. I do like that case though! Time to search ebay for a case like that...... Thanks!
