I'm thinking about getting a iSight as a webcam, but where I want to put the camera is 12-15 feet from the computer. Will firewire work over a cable that long?

15" is max cable length. You can get FW repeaters, though, like those from Orange Micro. They work very well.

I think FW800 is 100m, and FW400 is 4.5m.

USB2 is 5m.
