Hello
I had a scsi card in my G3 B&W but thats not hooked up at the moment. I have an minolta diamage scsi film scanner that Id like to use again with the G4 dual

what is the SCSI card (? from adaptic) I should get? there seem to be ones about $50 and about $100

is the speed transfer limited by the end device? ( the film scanner)

I know that the scanner has the very large connector, and that there are adaptors for the smaller scsi connector

also, some advertised as OEM {? original equipment manufacturer} are cheaper than the ones not said to be OEM, but the boxes all seem to be adaptec/

very puzzleing

thanks Rotut

I've always heard that getting SCSI scanners to work can be a real pain, even back in the day when that was all there was. The scanner probably has a ceontronics SCSI - 2 adapter, and the card probably has a 50 pin external SCSI connector too. So a simple cable might be all you need.... well that and drivers....

thanks 1008com

the scanner Im hoping to use is a film ( ie photographic negatives) scanner not a flatbed.

it worked fine on the g3 with the 49 $ scsi card apple added on on the built to order G3

I had assumed I needed to get a similar SCSI card for the g4 but have not looked into if Minolta has an OS X driver for it.

the scanner ran about 350 when I got it for the G3 via scsi.

Id rather not get say a firewire new film scanner if I can get this to work.

Of course, i could just hook it up to the g3 and then take the info off that into the G4 and the eventual G5 when that day comes.

then Id have three computer connecter: a G3, a G4, and a G5
that would impress a lot of people that didn't know a lot, wouldn't it!!!
