yesterday i tried to print to my lexmark inkjet printer that is connected to my airport basestation. i got an error about the cartridges being in wrong. so i removed them and placed them in again. and now the printer sits on jobs stopped. if i click start jobs and then send a print job through it puts it back to jobs stopped.
no errors, nothing. i have tried removing the printer, reinstalling it.
i am clueless.

i found this post from 11-03-2003:

Users who have done an upgrade install of Panther, Mac OS X 10.3, can run into printing problems if they run Disk Utility's 'Repair Permissions' function. We've put together a package which repairs the print system.
The Panther upgrade install appears to forget to create a couple of new Panther users. In particular the 'lp' and 'postfix' users are not created. When permissions are repaired via Disk utility the missing users cause damage to the print system.
The attached package does not install any files. It runs an Apple provided script in order to create the needed users. Once the new users are created it deletes any existing printer queues. Next it restarts the print server, cupsd, and lastly it tries to remake the print queues for any attached and powered USB printers. The net result is that is will undo the damage done by repair permissions and you should be able to print again.
The download is a zip file. Simply open the zip file and it will create an installer package. Run the installer package to repair the print system
