Hi-

I was wondering if all the portable USB keychain things out there work with OSX without specific drivers... I can get a PNY 512mb drive for $99, but it says it only has drivers for Windoze... Another drive claims it needs no drivers but costs $179.

Anybody know if OSX has built-in support?

thanks,

geoff

The Lexar JumpDrive 2.0 Pro 256MB ($70 in August 2003) was plug and play no drivers needed in Jag (10.2) while drivers were needed for it to be seen on my work PC running Windoze 98.

I am not sure if things change with bigger sizes of USB flash drives, but normally they are recognized natively in OS X. With 10.3. the speed on the Mac finally improved to an acceptable level for those drives that were dead slow before.

Drivers are needed for Win Systems running Win98 or likewise. The newer MS operating systems support them natively as well I think.
