I purchased a Philips Combo drive model # CDD5101 from a member of our MacNN forums. It came from one of his Mac computers (I don't remember which model). Anyway, I've been using it in my AGP PowerMac and it has worked flawlessly. However I have installed a Superdrive in the said PowerMac so now I'm trying to install the Philips combo drive into a G4 upgraded B/W PowerMac. Problem I'm having now is the same drive that was fully functional in the AGP Powermac is all of a sudden not bootable in the B/W PowerMac??!! (it's not even supported for disk burning under the system profiler).

I checked xlr8yourmac.com and I have verified that another person with this drive had the same problem (although he offered no solutions).

What are my options? I really wanted a to use this combo drive in the B/W Powermac.

Thanks,

lw

I don't have an answer, but I did a quick search on Google, and come up with this page. It does state it cannot use on Beige G3. I guess this shows only all Mac models is compatable with this drive
