I'm trying to help out my folks who are running Panther on an iMac 333 and have a N1220U. Apparently there is no native software package that doesn't need Photoshop to work. Am I wrong on this one? What software can they use to do basic scanning?

I tried the trial version of Vuescan, but the program would hang forever and ever just to do the simplest task. It's possible that problem would go away if I bought it, but I'd rather not make a purchase until I know the money will go to good use.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
