The dock is a great way to save clutter on your desk. You can leave it permanently plugged into power or your computer, then simply place your iPod in the dock to charge or load songs.

The dock also has a line-out hole, so you can play your ipod through your stereo when it is in the dock.

Essentially, the dock is just a nice way to not have another cable sitting loose on your desk. Not needed, but I like it.

I, on the other hand, find the dock unnecessary. The small, loose end of a cable neatly tucked away in a corner of my desk is much better than always having a physical dock sitting there. Not as nice to look at, but it saves space.
So, it's a matter of preference on space vs looks, and I don't feel the looks are worth the money.

Would you be willing to sell it, SupahCool? I thought of buying one but $40 seems like WAY too much.

It's important to note that the iPod dock stereo output port is a low level out. It's a non-amplified signal that when you connect it to a home stereo or similar playback set up you won't get distortion or feedback, etc.

I don't have one to sell. I won't buy one for the reasons stated above.
