The 40 is too big (iBrick) and the smaller sizes are too small (I have too many songs).

Is there anywhere that sill has 30GB iPods or sells refurbished ones?

The 30 is the same size as the 40. So if you think the 40 is too big, you won't like the 30 either.

Right... either you want the bigger HD size (with a thicker case) or a smaller GB for smaller physical size.

original 5GB: H: 4.02", W:2.43", D:0.78" @6.5 ounces
original 10GB: H: 4.02", W:2.43", D:0.78" @6.5 ounces
slimmer 10GB: H: 4.02", W:2.43", D:0.72" @6.5 ounces
20GB: H: 4.02", W:2.43", D:0.84" @7.2 ounces

3G line
10GB, 15GB, 20GB: H: 4.1", W:2.4", D:0.62" @5.6 ounces
30GB and 40GB: H: 4.1", W:2.4", D:0.73" @6.2 ounces

mini:
4GB: H: 3.6", W:2.0", D:0.5" @3.6 ounces
