Need sugestions on a gps module for route 66 and my powerbook.

Would like somthing cheap becuase i dont have much money, i travel alot with school and all and like to take road trips but am always afraid of getting lost.

size doesnt matter, just compatability and price.

Would like other user experiances.

Thanks

Don't have Route yet, but why not just get a Garmin eTrex (cheapest one) and the Belkin PDA adapter because it's serial.

I too would like some user experiences posted on GPS units. I've been thinking of getting one for some time, but know nothing about them.

On a side note, this is the biggest reason I'd like to see a color screen version of the iPod. Would be great to have GPS right on your iPod for road trips (assuming you could play music at the same time).

Hello Brian,

I may have suggestion for you on the need for a GPS receiver that supports MAC. Rayming corp's TripNav TN-200 USB GPS receiver supports Win/ Mac/ Linux right out of the box. Drivers included in the package. It is USB powered, magnet mounted, and has a 5 ft cable for placement. It's priced around $95 on the net. You can buy it directly from Rayming at MSRP or from one of their dealers.

normaly you could by nearly every gps receive out there. to use it with route66 and most other applications which support gps it only has to be compatible with the NMEA standard.
