I set my 3rd Generation 10 GB iPod on top of my car this morning after pulling into the garage, because I needed to take the recycling bin to the curb. In my clumliness, when retrieving the iPod, my leather-bound Sony Clie TJ-25 and my glasses case, the iPod tumbled to the cement garage floor. Luckily it landed flat on its back.

In short, it works just fine now. It was in a DLO Jam Jacket, which may have absorbed some of the shock. The JJ is very thin and I bought it just so I wouldn't scratch the back of my iPod and soil it with oily fingerprints, but it's just paid for itself tenfold.

I imagine the outcome would've been different had the iPod fallen onto one of its corners, or face down onto the LCD screen. In any case, I just thought I'd share.

At first iPod was afraid.
iPod was petrified.
iPod kept thinking iPod could never live
Without you by my side.
But then iPod spent so many nights
Just thinking how you'd done me wrong.
iPod grew strong.
iPod learned how to get along.
And so you're back from outer space.
iPod just walked in to find you here
Without that look upon your face.
iPod should have changed my ****ing lock.
iPod would have made you leave your key
If I'd have known for just one second
You'd be back to bother me.

Oh now go.
Walk out the door.
Just turn around now.
You're not welcome anymore.
Weren't you the one
Who tried to break me with desire?
Did you think iPo'd crumble?
Did you think iPo'd lay down and die?
Oh not iPod.

iPod will survive.
As long as iPod know how to love
iPod know iPod'll be alive.
iPod've got all my life to live.
iPod've got all my love to give.
iPod will survive.
iPod will survive.
