I've had the best luck with the Apple-branded media or the Verbatim stuff.

I'd be willing to bet that Sony brand media would work well, too. But Apple's is really competetively priced.

Wel, I'd like to get something I could just walk into Staples or Walmart's to buy.

Apple and Sony media have been solid for me, no bad burns ever. Memorex and TDK have been somewhat spotty, with about 2 bad discs each out of a 10-pack. The Sony media is $11 for 5 discs at Target, and it's made in Austria IIRC. Great stuff when I run out of Apple media.

Woah! Instead of paying $2.00 a disc, check out DealMac for some better suggestions. I've been finding discs for like 80¢ each. You can have them shipped right to the door. Unless of course you absolutely need a specific brand of media for some reason.

I found the Apple DVD-R is quite good and only $10 for the 5-pack.
I am sure other brand(s) may be cheaper.. but you may not get the case..
