A friend wants to buy a Canon 5000F and use it among others to scan negatives. Do you need filters to convert these negatives to positives? Are these filters provided with the scanner, or freely available, like with the Photoshop Elements 2.0 software?

Is it true that the FARE technology only works up to 300 dpi? And how does it perform?

If you want to scan framed diapositives, are the images sharp? As I remember when you project slides, they have to be focused all the time. Or do you have to remove the frame first?
