Hey guys

We have a Netgear and a 15" AlBook and for some reason we just can't get a connection going bia the Netgear. As with the Airport, the Netgear does show up in the Airport menu bar item but when trying to connect to it, it gives a message saying:

"There was an error joining the Airport network "NETGEAR"

Does anyone have any suggestions? Does anyone else use a Netgear with a Mac?

Are you using a WEP password? If so, you need to put a $ in front of the hex key password.

I had the same problem. Is your router the Netgear MR814v2? If it is, download the firmware from Netgear and that will fix your problem.
It's just an ordinary day and it's all your

just gotta say it's alright!

Had a simlilar problem with my WRG614. I could see the signal but couldn't get online. I set the WEP password and encryption to 128 and in the airport settings I used the 128 hex to enter the hex password and it worked after that. There may have been a better (easier) way to get it to work but I like the 126 encryption and prefer a hex password anyway.

Also, make sure the MTU is set to 1492 if you are on DSL or you'll have connection dropping problems and software update will not work. If you are on cable leave it at the default 1500.
