3rd Gen iPods don't work in OS9 iTunes?

My friends' iPod will not mount in iTunes 2.04 on OS9.

How can i remedy this situation?!?

Simple, upgrade to OS X.

Now before you complain and say that it's not possible or a flippant answer consider the following:

• If you look on the iPod Technical Spec it clearly states that you need a Mac with firewire and OS X 10.1.5 or later to support it.
• OS X has been out for around 3 years, is more stable than OS 9 and isn't expensive compared with the cost of a new iPod.

To use a 3G iPod in OS9 you must be using firmware 2.0.1. The newer firmware removes OS9 functionality. You can thank Apple for making that decision for you. I found the firmware in a DMG file so I guess you'll need access to OSX to open it.

but i suppose u lose features like the dynamic playlists and etc..


( OS9 is on our work computers ... she has OSX at home)

You'll still have all the 3G features, just not the 2.1 features ie voice recorder support, media reader support, etc...
