Just bought an Epson Perfection 1670 scanner and now I'm unable to use the included Copy Utility as it always unexpectedly quits on launch.

Since the "copy" button on the scanner works (i.e. launches "Smart Panel" and then "Epson Copy Utility" ), this is especially annoying.

Can anyone help?

(10.3.2, installed it twice - no luck)

Repair permissions perhaps. But the OS reinstall should cover that.

Toss the preferences file. It's located at:
~/Library/Preferences/EPSON Copy Utility

Ok, found the solution myself:

Went to the US site of epson - and voila: there were tons of 10.3 patches which - of course - aren't available on the "old europe" sites of epson....

Everything is fine now.

Is there an OS X version of Smart Panel? The patches all seem to state that they will patch the Classic version of Smart Panel so it will still function in Panther. Of course, no direct Epson statement can be found and I may have missed something. I am using an Epson CX3200 (printer/scanner/copier) with 10.3.2 and the Copy Center patch works, but I have never installed the Classic applications (since I got the printer - free - yesterday).

The version of Smart Panel that came with my scanner (3170) is definitely OSX native. An OS9 version is included also.
