Printing Wirelessly from OS 90 --Possible????

Since I am relatively new to the mac world (about a year) I have a question about printing in OS 9 from my 12" Powerbook. I still run the OS 9 version of WordPerfect and would like to be able to print wirelessly to my Canon i950 connected to my Airport Extreme Base Station. I have tried to set up the printer through the chooser using the IP of the AE Base Station, but it still won't work. The only way I have been able to print from OS 9 is to connect the printer directly to my laptop via a USB (in OS 9). It prints perfectly in OS X wirelessly. Is this just a limitation of OS 9 or am I missing something?

It will only work natively if you have a Postscript Printer. There are some hacks that you can try here: MacOSX Hints; however, they don't seem to work for everyone.
