Ok, here's an interesting question...
My iPod seems to missing one song from my library. iTunes indicates 3675 songs, but my iPod only shows 3674.
I've checked all of the protected AACs and I am authorized to play them all. I've also checked for files in iPod incompatible formats. I've converted everything so that I only have MP3, AAC and protected AAC files. I've even gone to the extent of restoring the iPod and re-syncing w/ my iTunes library.
Any thoughts? The idea of going through 3675 songs one be one is not a pleasant one. Anyone know of a good file compare util?

Maybe there's a song in the iTunes Library list, but the actual file can't be found. Thus it can't sync. Just a thought.

Well, I ditto'ed the invisibe iPod_Control/Music folder to my scratch volume. I will try to compare the contents of that folder.
I found a couple of utils from Versiontracker, but nothing seems to be able to just compare file listings (new, added or missing files, etc).

I once got a popup message from iTunes saying it can't transfer some songs because they can't be played. It then gave an example: ie: yousong here .
I checked the song and it was a mp3 file so I don't know why it said that my iPod couldn't play it... I dunno... Maybe that's what happened to you.

I've seen that message. As I said I converted verything to AAC and now those files play fine on the iPod. I am not getting this message any longer (even after the restore), and yet it seems to be one song short.
Very odd.

It won't sync unchecked songs if you've told it to ignore them, and it won't sync streaming audio bookmarks.

When this happened to me I traced it to a streaming audio bookmark from the "Radio" section of iTunes.
