My housemate and I have iPods. The original iPod is a 20 Gb and the new one is a Mini. Both are connecting to a PM G4 to iTunes. Since getting the mini I have not been able to succesfully copy any songs to the 20gb iPod. As soon as a list starts copying it hangs eventually freezing everything on the system. I have tried several times and only a restart or just plain pulling the 20gb out of the dock with free up the system. I have also reset the 20gb thinking the issue was there. The mini connects, mounts and loads songs fine. Thanks for any help!

I had this problem a while back, and the only fix I could find was to try a different cable. Have you tried taking the dock out of the equation? There were lots of other ideas posted in the apple ipod forums at the time, and it might be worth browsing in there for other solutions. Hope that helps...

most likely a currupt song. this happened before, it was a currupt song. find out where it's stopping and take that song file out and try it again. if you're using itunes you might have a ! next to the song.

I have had the same freezing problem...both gen1 10GB iPods.

Both started having issues after I downloaded a new version of iTunes (4.2?). My whole system would freeze when downloading new songs to the iPod.

I toasted one of the hard drives from pulling out the cord, didn't think of resetting it.

I then re-installed iTunes and things were going good for the other iPod.

Then I installed iLife, which loaded a new version of iTunes. Now the second iPod is all screwed up. I can download a few songs, but then it hangs up the system.

I verified the iPod disk, even ran the self diagnostic mode on the iPod itself.

Seems to me to be a software thing, but Apple told me I could pay the $250 each and get them "repaired".

-I tried different FW cables
-I reset the iPods
-I scanned my iMac's HD
-I repaired my iMac's permissions

I really need help, I don't want to ruin my new mini

HELP!
