got my new car headset the other day (kenwood kdc7024) and i was wondering if it was posible to use the radio controls for controling the iPod.
its a 10GB 2G iPod pluged in via an aux input?
is it possible or do i need a 3G iPod?

I read your post a couple times and then I did a search for this kenwood receiver in case it had something I have never heard of before - mental telepathy or the like.
I don't think anything can control the iPod from a headunit point of view. I have a CD changer lead coming to the the line out on the dock. I have to control the iPod through the iPod.
Aux input can not send a control signal to the iPod, I believe. I hope you didn't buy this specific model just to control the iPod. However, the aux input is perfect for the line out to plug into and receive a clear signal (as opposed to FM transmitter).

Until apple starts a partnership with a headset maker, third-party solutions will have to be used.

Wow, that's a lot more expensive than what I bought to get my 3g iPod to work in my Audi. I bought my CD changer kit from Autotoys.com.

As it turns out, Alpine actually introduced a head unit at CES this year that will plug directly into an iPod, allowing menu navigation directly on the head unit itself. I think it only works with dockable iPods though.

For the original poster, I have seen some nice custom jobs that basically installs a dock into the car somewhere you can directly control the ipod, but to make that look good takes a fair level of skill.

hi velodev, i also have an audi and am considering a few options for getting my [3g] ipod integrated. denison seems overkill imo. i was looking at the type iii aux connector on autotoys and it seems to fit the bill.
what are your thoughts on its performance, did you install, and do you have any thoughts on the subject? thanks for any input!
