Apple products are generally good.
That said, the pro keyboard is an overpriced piece of garbage.
Now I've been using computers since I got my first Apple //e, and the pro keyboard is the worst kb I have ever owned.
Pick it up in your hands. It feels flimsy; cheap. Like you could snap it in half with your bare hands.
Use it for a while. It will stop working.
I just had my 2nd Pro keyboard die on me. Keys just stop working. I took both of them apart today, looks like the conductive material on some of the keys on the membrane has worn off. Cheap. Granted, I'm known for being hard on my keyboards, I strike the keys with force when I type, and I always thought membrane keyboards felt 'mushy and cheap'. Guess they are.
Now I have to buy a new keyboard just to use my Powermac. It won't be an Apple kb, any suggestions?

I personally like my Logitech keyboard, but for a while I had a Microsoft keyboard and it felt really tough. I prefer the feel of the Logitech, but I think the MS would have stood up to more punishment. As far as the Apple Pro Keyboard being crap... well, I like the Pro Keyboard more than the newer "Apple Keyboard" that now ships with all Macs. However, neither can even come close to the Extended II keyboard Apple made so long ago. And I do think the new ones are at least better than the Apple Design keyboard.
Go to an Office Max or similar store and try out the keyboards there. As long as you get a USB keyboard, it should work fine in OS X, and there will usually be drivers available that will let you use all the keys the way you normally would on a Mac.

I love the pro-keyboards. Just wish they were backlite like the laptop ones.

Still nothing better (IMO) than the old ADB "aircraft carrier" keyboard. I truly detest the USB one that came with my PMac. I've been very very close to buying a USB/ADB converter just to go back to it, but would hate to lose the sound/ejects/etc keys.
Actually what I really love is the Sun keyboards, with the left side function keys for Find, Cut, Paste, etc. At work I have all of those mapped for emacs use.

Anyone got or used the Matias Tactile Pro keyboard?
It's got proper key switches like the old Extended II. I was thinking of getting one. It actually looks like the pro – which is a bonus.

I have a well used pro keyboard that falls on the floor all the time because of my cheap computer desk. I've had no problems yet.
A backlit keyboard would be cool.

I would recommend the MacAlly iceKey. It utilizes high quality key switches and the keys have a low profile like those found on laptops.

Just went out and bought a microsoft wireless optical desktop keyboard + mouse combo.
Seems to work ok. Typing this post on it
Though I never really understood why a wireless keyboard is cool. My keyboard stays in one place all the time and I have no desire to put it in my lap or walk around the room with it. Keeps another cable of my desktop I suppose
Wireless mice rock, however.

I hate the Pro Keyboard. It hasnt failed or anything, but the keys just annoy the heck out of me. Flimsy, sticky, blah blah blah. I really want a nice ergonomic keyboard with a mac layout of course. any suggestions?
This is all I can come up with
