Has anyone heard from El Gato regarding the EyeTV 200 product? Since January 6th, they said the product would ship in 30 days.. It is now the end of Q1 and the product hasn't shipped yet. I've sent mail to Elgato asking about estimated dates, and did not recieve any response.. Has anyone heard anything?

I'm wondering if this product is now vapor.. either that or it has serious quality control issues.

Its shipping. People on xlr8yourmac.com have had it for a few weeks now. Go there and read reviews.

Cool! Thanks for the link.

It was as I feared though, the product has some initial bugs that need to be worked out. The biggest is that the box will randomly loose signal. Elgato says that you need to tune into either a strong signal or connect a camcorder on start up. Until this gets worked out, people are saying that it isn't reliable for recording favorite shows..

Ahh well. I guess I'll hold out for the MPEG-4 version. I'm surprised they didn't spend the extra couple of dollars on the chipset and include one that supports both codecs.

So your saying I should spend money on a buggy product?

RE the MPEG-4 issue, I've looked into a few semiconductor companies & some fabs, and chipsets with mpeg-2 & mpeg-4 are compression/de-compression are coming down in price. Due to some NDAs I can't give names though..
