So I was having a dull night, and I figured I might as well set up a webcam, because my iSight was really doing much of anything. So I set up the webcam using EVOCam and our B&W Webserver, and all is well. The problem is that I'll be spending next semester abroad, and I'd love to buy a nice cheap webcam that works in OS X so I can take my iSight with me. Quality is not an issue, I mean, something really really cheap. Any ideas?
To see the slackcam in action (or as I call it, a complete waste of an iSight), go here:

Yeah, that happens a lot. I had a very cheap one, that I had to sell, because OS X broke it. It very much sucks that way. I know there are drivers out there, but does anyone at all know of a cheap camera that works in 10.3? Any experience? Something thats NOT an iSight, and NOT $100?

In a realm beyond site, the sky shines gold, not blue, there the Triforce's might makes mortal dreams come true.

Don't bother with that.. It was great in 10.2 But in 10.3 its next to useless and will even cause crashes on start up often.
Back to the cams themselves.. How about a Unibrain Fire-i? I think I got the name right.. Firewire cam and it costs half as much as an iSight. Apple even sells them on their own website store here in the UK.. I don't know about the Apple US store however.
Philips and Logitech also do some OS X compatible USB cams. But USB is next to useless if you ever intend to use the cam with iChat, which is a FireWire app only (Unless you purchase the iChat USB patch thing).
Or.. Most cheap cams can be made to work with a driver, much like the Macam driver which was free.. But as I mentioned above, this no longer works in 10.3 and looks unlikely to be updated. So the alternative driver which you would need to pay for, is from IOXperts. However, personally, I wont pay for any driver when I already forked out enough for the hardware. Principles I guess..

The worst thing about having a failing memory is..... no, it's gone.
