i dont no how fast this has got around but using your white iPod headfones can make you a target to muggers this was released by the police yesterday. advice was to chnge the headfones to something more discrete or less of a "look i have an iPod!!!!" type.

when an apple spokesperson (didnt hear who) was asked about this the reply was - "our customers dont care about that they just want to look good" !!!!!!

he aint speaking about me there thats for sure

thought id share just in case

I think if you are stupid enough to use the white Ipod headphones you deserve to be a potential target, those things have poor sound quality .

There have actually been only 2 reported cases of iPod theft in the UK.
The press over here have now decided that the iPod has had too much good publicity and have now started to pick up any story it can to berate the iPod.

5 national newspapers in the UK all reported the same story yesterday, what they did not say was how many times this type of crime had happened. They all reported the same incident that had happened too one person.

I'm not saying that iPods are not a good target for a thief, but in no way is this an epidemic and neither are iPod owners being targeted specifically.

The BBC also a non Apple fan was going to write about the story, but after checking with a number of UK sources (MacUser, etc) they decided against it as they could not find and other reports or evidence to support it.

This is typical of the UK press, they like to have good news about things / people so they can build them up, and then once it is in everyone's head they love to shoot them down with negative stories (most of them untrue).
