I am trying to choose a DVD Recorder and here it's down to the Philips DVR 75 which writes DVD+R/+RW, the Pioneer model xxx (I forget) which writes DVD-R/-RW and its internal 80Gb hard drive or the Sony model yyy (I forget) which writes DVD+-R/+-RW (all formats).
I'm not sure of the advantages of writing to all formats and it bumps up the price too. The cheapest of the three is the Philips and seems suited to me best. However, the Pioneer has everything I could hope for but is the most expensive of the three.
Then I noticed that Rogers has a presence in the market. The model is DV-810R and writes DVD+R/+RW. It is so cheap at half the price of the cheapest in the above three! It is however the plainest looking of the four without even a display and just a row of identical looking buttons ala old NAD amplifiers.
What would you recommend I buy and should I even consider the Rogers who don't really have a track record in this field?
