This is a problem on a mac in work. I believe the music transfer is done primarily on another machine, but we have recently moved a mac to where the ipod is connected to the stereo which pipes music throughout the workspace.

When plugging the ipod into the new mac, it doesn't seem to recognize it, though the ipod comes up in the source area of itunes. The music either on cd or already on the mac is dragged over to the ipod space in source the ipod doesn't accept the music.

I don't know anything about ipods yet, but just came across a quite perplexed person attempting to resolve this.

Thanks

technically, iPods are only meant to work with one user/computer. if you plug it in to another computer you should get a warning box about deleting files from the iPod and linking it to that computer.

there are ways around that though. search for iPod on http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx there are freeware/shareware utilities that should let you do whi i think you're trying to do.

btw... i have relatives in mashpee and spend lots of time in ptown myself!

Thanks for the advice. I'm sure that will do the trick. Nice to see the shareware fee is quite reasonable for what it will do

Mashpee is nice, though awfully quiet for a city(Boston) guy during these colder months.

Love Ptown. My wife and I were married at the Red Inn about five years back.

Regards,
