I'm buying a LaCie 250gb, firewire 800 d2 external HD. Is there anything I should know before I hook it up to my G4? More or less, do I need to format the drive, can I install Panther on it as well?

I've been out of the computer link for a while and need some refreshing.

Any help would kick.

It should be fine out of the box. If you like you can format it.

That is about it.
