I just have a simple question :

Can I use 270 Mo Syquest cartridge in my Syquest 105 Mo drive ?

The 105 Mo media are not sold anymore in France but I still can find 270 Mo cartridge.

Sincerely yours,

Gilles

I doubt it would work (most likely, the cartridges have been shaped so that the 270MB will not fit in a 105MB drive).

There are still places that sell the 105MB cartridges, but each cartridge costs more than a whole CD-RW drive. I think it's time to find a new storage medium!

It seems that the link is not correct ...

In fact I keep a few old configurations for my personnal collection and want to keep the hardware in condition with enough media. I found 270 Mo cartridges for 4 euros each.

I just want to know if I can format the 270 Mo cartridge as a 105 Mo one (in the same way it is possible to format 1,44 floppy disk in 800 Ko mode ...)

And don't worry I have CD burners too

The link is fine. Whether that company (with its prices that haven't been updated in probably 7 years) is still around is another question!

I already gave you the most likely answer to the question: the 270MB cartridge is probably designed to not fit in older drives. (This was done with many, many drives.)

P.S. For everyone who doesn't know: in French, the abbreviation for MB (megabyte) is instead written Mo (mégaoctet). I know of no other language that doesn't use MB, heh.

Thanks for your answer. And next time I won't forget to use Bytes instead of Octets

Well the thing is, the word "octet" is more intuitive than "byte", not to mention that "b" vs "B" isn't as clear a distinction to many people as "b" vs "o"!!
