I just realized my PC notebook at work won't be able to mount my iPod as a FW device unless it is formatted as Fat32 (it is currently HFS+).

Is it possible to partition two ways and have one partition HFS+ (for music) and the other partition FAT32 for data?

I wish to use the iPod as an easy way to transfer data to and from the PC notebook.

Just partition it for FAT32 and it can be read on the Mac side and PC side.

Or buy MacOpener to read a Mac volume on a PC.

I would recommend not partitioning it. I don't think it was intended to carry partitions.

I once partitioned the drive and afterwards it was impossible to install the 1.3.1 operating system on it. Perhaps I made a mistake somewhere, perhaps not

It looks like I can use mac opener to acces the files on the iPod from a PC without modifying the iPod.
