Hi, I'm using a G4 running OS X.2.8. I think my firewire ports are having trouble reading devices that I'm plugging in to them and noone seems to know why. Maybe you folks can help me solve the problem.

A few months ago, (after having updated to the latest version of OS X) my Formac DV bridge wasn't being read by the computer. At the time, i thought it was a hardware problem.

Now, I bought a DVX100 Panasonic camcorder, and the firewire port won't recognize that either.

I ran system profiler with both devices plugged into the ports and turned on. System profiler told me there were no firewire devices plugged in.

Does anyone have a clue what might be wrong. Could it be my firewire drivers disappeared? If so, where do I get new, up to date drivers?

Any help would be appreciated, I'm freaking out over here!

Thanks,

-Waddy

Try running the Apple Hardware Test CD. It will tell you if there's anything wrong with the Firewire circuitry. If so, it means you'll need a new logic board.
I do not like those green links and spam.
I do not like them, Sam I am.

It turns out, the thing needed a good dusting on the inside from a cold spray can. Sometimes, I tend to worry over nothing.

Thanks for your help.
