My configuration is as follows;
Cube 450mhz/80gig/640mb/CD-R
OS X.3.3 (completely up to date)
iMic run to a Denon stereo receiver with Polk Audio monitor speakers.

Up until last night this all work wonderfully. Now, however, audio output is not working as it used to. Through any and all applications that support audio such as iTunes, iMovie etc the audio is very muffled and without bass. it sounds like a connection is loose, but I have disconnected and reconnected everything to be sure this is not the case. restarts and waiting a day have not helped. has anybody had a similar experience with the iMic? Is there a known cure?
Thanks

What happens if you connect the minijack output of your computer to the same input on your stereo?

Do other sources sound okay over the stereo?

the cube has no such mini-jack output, only the usb Pro Speakers it came with. that's why i have the iMic for audio output. i swapped out the imic for the usb pro speakers and they sound fine. i tried the imic on a 466mhz G4 powering different speakers and had no issue. when I get home from work i'll try the imic on my tibook to the same speakers/receiver and see if it's still a problem. as it is right now it looks like a cube issue to me

I tried the iMic on my tibook too and it work flawlessly. I think I've then narrowed it down to being a problem somewhere in the cube, but where and how to fix it?
ideas?
please?

for those still tuned in; i streamed the itunes library to my tibook via rendezvous and it sounded as it should through the tibook. doing A-B comparisons with this set-up my wife and I think the cube output through the iMic sounds mono. is there a setting buried somewhere that does this? how is my cube putting out mono or something that sounds muffled like mono through both right and left speakers?
help please

There is an iMic control panel where you can set bass, left&right und volume preferences. If you don't have it installed, you can download it at griffintechnologies website.

I couldn't find it either, but it was there some time ago. I found this on versiontracker:

hmmm, i'm a bit weary of downloading this as somebody on versiontracker left this feedback;
if you are using it on a Cube for an analog speaker out- it completely kills any master volume control from the sound system prefs and keyboard

do you have any experience using this app?
I tried creating another user after somebody recommended that and I get the same results, muffled sound with no low end. is there a preference file or something I can trash that might re-spawn itself fixed?
Thanks

the problem has been solved!!!
Audio Midi setup was the answer. the audio output was set at 6400.0Hz rather than the (seemingly) correct 48000.0Hz! how it got that way I have no freaking clue, but that fixed it.

yes, thank you. i was having a similar problem where only my left channel was playing through the iMic to my speaker system.

i thought i blew out the right speaker somehow. even contacted the manufacurer.

Audio Midi Setup somehow had turned down that channel for whatever reason. Never happened before in a over a year with the iMic.

thanks for pointing me in the right direction. i didn't even know about that application.
