Okay, so my mom got herself an iPod, and used it with windows; so it has been formatted for windows. Well, she gave it to me to use with my mac... will I have to reformat it or something? How do i get it mac formatted... and how do I keep the songs that are already on it?

I did exactly this a few days ago and going from Mac -> Windows wouldn't work, though the reverse did. You don't get the nice icon on the Mac, but I can handle that. Makes more sense to be able to go either way by doing this.

However, one caveat is that the PC formatted iPod can't handle the less common characters (? " ' etc) in file names.
