A friend of mine has a FireWire iPod but her iMac only has USB ports. What does she need to sync up with the iPod?

A newer Mac.

There is the USB2 cable that can be used with PC's (that have either USB1 or USB2) - but on the Mac, Firewire is the only option.

She really should have checked out the system requirements before buying an iPod to work with a 5 (?) year old computer.

Or one of the Sonnet Harmoni cards, if she doesn't mind spending another $350.
