Just wondering if anybody here has been able to get a connection via bluetooth to a PC on a network to work. I do not have a wireless router atm, and would have been kinda cool to get some kind of wireless network so I can sit anywhere I want in the apartment. Have tried with the MX900 base station and a MSI-dongle, but so far no success.

Bluetooth isn't a networking technology.

Networking technology or not, it is a protocol for communicating wirelessly. Can therefore be used for networking as well, even if it is slow.

The clue is that is possible to connect a bluetooth-equipped laptop to a bluetooth-equipped stationary computer, and then use the ethernet-connection of the stationary computer as a gateway, where the communication between the two computers are via bluetooth.

While it is possible to network two computers via Bluetooth, both the range and bandwidth of the connection will pale in comparison to that of Wi-Fi. If you already have an MX900 sharing the connection, then you may experience erratic mouse performance.

Follow the links in the following thread out about networking via Bluetooth,

You can use use a fork to dig the Panama Canal, too, but that doesn't mean it's the right tool for the job.

Networking has its own special needs, which often do not align with the needs of local communication. In turn, local communications has needs that networking technology does not meet.

Rather than forcing a tool to do something it's not designed to do (which means it will do it poorly), get the right tool. In this case, that means WiFi.

Well, that was kind of the point. Of course I am aware that Bluetooth is not designed for networking, but with a bandwidth of over 1mbps, it should be possible to make it work for some basic surfing, and since I do not have WiFi atm, it would be interesting to test this out, since Bluetooth-hardware and drivers are designed to support this.
