I just replaced the battery in my 2 gen 10GB iPod. I got the battery from
www.smalldog.com as they had the best price; included tool and directions. This is a very easy install, the most difficult part is separating case. It took a few, very patient, attempts to get the feel of it. I think if you have ever installed ram on one of the original iMacs you can do this replacement. A point I would make is that smalldog and some other,
www.ipodbatteryfaq.com have batteries have a higher charge capacity; go to the ipodbatteryfaq site and you'll see who is offering what. Once the case is open it's a snap, if you have patience and common sense you'll be fine, just remember to "think" about what you're doing. I probably could have gotten away with my battery as it for a little longer, but I have seen reduced battery life and I have been itching to attempt this replacement. I am convinced just about anyone can do this.
Good luck
