I have a friend who was thinking about an iPod but she has XP. Does everything on that side of the moon work just as well as my mac/iPod combo works? I mean, do you still just plug it in and itunes takes care of synching and all?
Are there any issues she should be worried about? Otherwise, she gets that Dell DJ thing which I know little about.

iPod/iTunes work just the same as it does on a Mac.
Only thing is that, by default, you can't sync Contacts and Calendars with Windows (since there's no Windows version of iSync). I'm sure someone else has developed something similar, though.

My roommate has a new Sony WinXP machine with a new ipod, and it works pretty well. The only problem is his Sony doesn't have power in the firewire, so he has to charge it separately with the included charger. Also, sometimes WinXP doesn't see when the device is plugged in at first.

It works great on Windows XP. The contacts are just regular Vcard format that you can export in Outlook or another program then you can drag those exported Vcards to the contacts folder if you have use as a disk mode on and they will show up under Contacts on your iPod
