I have a 5 gig wheel iPod that is acting up to the point that I think it may be dead. I had it replaced after I had the common battery problems on the original purchase. I have searched around, but no luck finding an answer to this particular problem.

Basically, when it starts up, I can hear the hard drive spinning, but it never gets past the apple screen before clicking off and then starting up again, over and over.

The problem started with it having trouble updating through iTunes. It was very very slow and sometimes never got done. Now I can even get it to turn all the way on and it seem shows up on the desktop, but not in iTunes.

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks.

Never mind, I fiugred it out. Thanks.

Whenever you answer your own question it's always nice if you leave a little note how you fixed it rather than leaving us all in the dark. Imagine you're someone with a 5 gig iPod that stumbles upon this thread in a google search one year from now... Can you picture it now?

"OMG! That's exactly what happened to mine!! <click>.. Oh, damn... he didn't ever say how he fixed it... "
