Hello

I have a client who purchased a Minolta laser printer model 2300 DL

It does not support the OS X. Minolta will not support or suggest any work arounds for this printer. I asked and got this response.
"the Magicolor 2300 DL, are designed for use with MS Windows only. The Magicolor 2300 DL uses a GDI (Graphics Device Interface) type of printer driver that is not supported by MS-DOS, Macintosh, or Linux Operating Systems."

Does anyone know of a way to print to a windows printer like the Magicolor 2300 DL that uses a GDI (Graphics Device Interface)?

There might be open-source drivers someone reverse-engineered for it, but basically, GDI printers are useless without the drivers.

The only way to print to it, then, is to make a PDF, send it to a Windows machine, and print the PDF from there.

In other words, sell the cheap Magicolor and get a PostScript printer.

People shouldn't buy printers without at least PCL support.

Unfortunatlly this is not my printer but my clients.

I need to find a way to make this work. How do I find an open source driver?

I think you're stuck. I bought a Magicolor 2350 with Ethernet and Postscript module after a lot of reaserch to make sure it would work with OSX and it does so without any problems. It cost me AUD 600 more than the base model but if you need it you have to get it.

My suggestion is to arrange a trade in agianst the correct model with the dealer from which it was first supplied. Again, it will cost money but the current investment is sunk dollars anyway.
