Hi guys - Sorry if this is has been asked before but I can't find it on search and I am still pretty new to the Mac world. I have a HP laserjet 1100 connected to my old Dell Desktop running Windows XP. I have a new 15' PB with airport. The 2 computers are networked through my cable modem. The printer does not have a network cable on it and is plugged into the back of the desktop. I am unable to 'find' my printer model on setup under Panther. However, when I open up VPC and run Win XP from my laptop, I can print files. How do I set up the Mac Os to recognize the printer so that I can send files without opening the emulator?

Try plugging the printer directly into your Mac and then add it thru the Printer Utility. That should load the driver (I believe that one is built-in).

But I don't think you can use a printer shared thru Windows sharing. I think you have to do the sharing thru CUPS. Someone here can point you in the right direction to do that. Or check MacOSXHints.com.

Go to the HP website and get drivers for Mac. That should help.
