Hi All -
I just got a new iBook - how do I get the songs from my iPod that I had with my iMac to sync/fill my new iTunes??? When first attaching, it asks if I want to erase the contents of my ipod and replace with my new music library (which I do not want to do cuz it's empty).
Thanks for the help!

An iPod can only be (legally) associated with a single Mac. That's why you are being asked that question.
Now there are tons of other ways to get around this restriction but that's not of interest to me. Search the forums or just use Google. I'm sure you'll find lots of links to investigate.

ipodrip is good. it will copy all the files off your ipod onto your mac. it will preserve the directory structure so it looks like your music/itunes library folder should. not just a bunch of music files.

Report back if everything worked out well for you.
Another (legal) way is to use the iPod like a hard drive (or so I hear) and copy the files on to it , move the iPod to the next computer and download it...

I think to do that to access the music you need to use some software to unhide the music folder. Or will navigating there via the command line work?

What about the new Apple software for copying your old Mac's stuff to your new Mac? Can't find the Apple page on in, but it's a Firewire connection thing during intial startup that supposedly mirrors your old Mac to your new one. I would hope that would include the iTunes library.
