I had a massive party last night and the music was coming from my TiBook through HK Soundsticks. THey seemed to work fine all night, and I have never had a problem with them before, but today (maybe LATE last night, not sure) there is NO output from the Subwoofer. The sticks are still functioning, but of course, without the sub, the volume level is drastically diminished and there is no low end.
I checked iTunes and the equalizer was not on.
I checked the soundsticks separately on my iBook, they also used to work on, with the same results: no Subwoofer output.
I tried just powering them off and on, no luck.

QUESTION: Has anyone had this problem with soundsticks? You can't order a replacement woofer, so is there any internal breaker or fuse that anyone knows of? Doesn't it seem like the system should be "self limiting" to keep from melting down or blowing the woofer? Since the input is just a digital USB signal. The internal HK Amplifier decides how much a maximum volume level can be actually fed to the speakers, so did it just melt itself down?
The speakers were probably running for 5 or 6 hours at "high" level from the computer volume control point of view, all iTunes songs.

Has anyone out there taken the sub apart and checked internal components?

I know this is incredibly blunt to ask but did you make sure you didn't accidentally turn down the volume knob on the sub?

Nope. Of course I have been troubleshooting and in that process tried all and any positions of the sub volume knob. Also, the know was turned towards a wall and wasn't hit or kicked. (i.e. the potentiometer wasn't broken or any contacts cracked).
