IPod mounting trouble

	just got a new 40gb. connecting to old IMac G3, but music is on a 120gb La Cie f/w hd. having probs mounting the sucker & AppleCare suggests new IPod is just too snooty to work w/IMac & external hd, perhaps since IPod hd is size of IMac hd (??) anyone run into this? i've fiddled w/mount/unmounting the ext. hd, switching which f/w port i use for hd & Ipod (only 2 ports). i also have a G4 pb & when i "mount" the IPod to it (synched to IMac), then try the IMac, it has mounted. i want to keep IMac/La Cie/IPod together as they're hooked up to stereo. anyone... anyone?? please & thanks! (latest versions of OS X..../ ITunes/Ipod software are loaded.)
