Hello,

I was wondering if anyone else here has an HBH-65 Bluetooth headset?
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=107451

I had an HBH-35 until recently which was a bit bulky, but worked well with OS X.

Unfortunately it recently broke and I had to upgrade.

I tried pairing it with my mac - which seemed to work, and it allowed me (just after pairing) to use it as a sound input in the Sound prefpane.

The trouble is that once it has disconnected it won't accept incoming connections from the Mac again - e.g. when the OS needs to use it as a sound input again I get that dialog which reads "the audio portion of the application may need to be restarted."

This happens in the Sound PrefPane as well once the connection has gone down. The HBH-35 used to reconnect happily.

Even more unfortunately I also even more recently lost my phone - so I can't test the headset with that to see if it's the headset's fault or OS X.

Does anyone else have an HBH-65 around here?

Last time I tried the HBH-65 with my Mac it wouldn't get recognized at all. That was many moons ago and I haven't tried it since though. I'll try again soon.

It works fine with my T610 Sony Ericsson phone though.

You have to set-up headsets through the Set-Up assistant otherwise the OS won't recognise them as Audio Sources.

Yeah, I tried that last time but it didn't work. I'll try again.

Just as an aside: I notice the Bluetooth world is truly beginning to flail out of control.

This was supposed to be a simple, easy to use, standard technology, and it's become a mine field. Different headsets work differently (or not at all) with different phones which work differently with different computers which work differently with other bluetooth devices--what an absolute mess.

It all looks good and promising when you read the marketing copy. But when you actually start to use a range of different bluetooth equipment, you see it's hit or miss at best. A real disappointment....
