It's a very good Samsung 172t (silver) monitor, but for some reason, one or two times a day, it will just go completely black.

I can fix it by turning it off and then on again, however, sometimes I have to repeat this process several times before it will stay on, because it often immediately goes black again. Once it stays on for a few seconds I'm good for the next six hours to a day. It seems to be getting harder to bring it back. It's taking more attempts each time, I think.

What I have ruled out:

1) Power. The power light always stays on. The power cable and supply are securely connected. Nothing is moving when this occurs.

2) Computer connection. It gives an error screen when it losses it's connection. It doesn't just go black. It is securely connected to the computer.

So, who knows what's going on?

I get this same problem with a Samsung 191T and my Radeon 7000 on my PC, but only via the DVI connection. However, my PowerBook works just fine with it via DVI.

Try a new video cable. Maybe there's dodgy conductor in there.
