I know it's old, but I do have some info I would like to retrieve. When I turned it on, it asked for batteries, so I replaced them a few days later, and it wouldn't boot up. it has worked fine for almost 3 years, so I don't know how to troubleshoot it. Any ideas for restarting it? Thanks in advance.

If it's been without batteries for a while, you've lost all your data (up until your last HotSync, anyway). Resetting it should help to start up.

I didn't see one. There is a hole in the front. This thing is pretty old.

The hole on front is the microphone. The reset hole is on the back, underneath the top right corner of the sticker you put there

Unscrew the tip of the stylus (assuming it's the original), stick it in the little hole in the back, labeled reset (look below the IR port).
If this doesn't work, you can do a 'hard reset' (losing all your data) by holding the power button down while presing the reset button with the stylus.

Ha! I have that exact same Visor. Mine needs new batteries, too.

After I peeled off the easy instructions and stuck a sharp instrument into the guts of this fossil, everything is back to normal. Thanks again.

Hey, I depend on that very same "fossil" everyday for my (obviously) basic PDA needs.

Pfft.. I don't even have the deluxe! Just a regular 2MB model that's served me well for quite a few years now. And by "basic PDA needs" I mean no WiFi, movies, mp3s, word processing, etc. Mostly just PIM stuff. Oh, and solitaire. Lots of solitaire

I love Pyramid, myself. I don't really use mine all that much, but I still find myself eyeing a new one. I want a color screen! (easier to see the cards that way!)

I was just looking on the handspring web site (redirected to PalmOne.

The plain old Visor handheld isn't even listed! I'm guessing it's not supported, etc. On the PocketMac GoBetween site it's also not listed as a supported device.

You know, the thing works perfectly fine. I may be forced, at some point, to get a new one just because it won't work with current software. That's somewhat maddening.

It syncs with Palm Desktop, or are you thinking that in 2 years it won't sync?

It syncs with Palm desktop -- I'm trying to use isync to sync ical with the palm (visor). And that I've been unable to accomplish.

Yes, you're right -- it works fine with the Palm software. I'm trying to also get it to sync with other things. I'm not sure it'w worth buying a new one though. And this one does work perfectly fine. It's just old. (Gee, must be all of 3, or 3 1/2.) Still serviceable, just not the newest.

Not crazy -- just misinformed! So -- how do you have it set up to sync in isync?

I have Palm Desktop 4.0, iSync 1.4 (though it's worked with every version since 1.0). I just installed everything and followed Apple's instructions word-for-word to set up the Conduits and such. Nothing special to get it working (for me, at least).
