I have a LaCie Porsche DVD-/+RW external DVD FW writer and am having trouble with some Data DVDs I've burned. I am using CompUSA DVD-R Media (which I think might be the problem) and Toast 6 Lite. The burn using Toast 6 Lite did not give any errors or signs that the burn went bad. However when I mount the DVDs now they show all of the files and structure that I intially had. The problem comes when I try and copy any of the files from the DVD to my HD. It starts by showing it is copying (dialog window) and starts with the file ".DS_STORE" then proceeds to stop and say that there is an error. I am using Jaguar but the discs were burned on Panther if that helps anyone with this problem. Not sure if that is even a factor. I brought the DVDs to a friend who has a PC and when I try to copy the data from the DVD to his HD it doesn't give an error intially but it does give the copy dialog box and says something like "455 hours remaining" and just sticks. What is really wierd is that I can see all of the files and folders yet I can't get the data back. Do I have coasters on my hand or is there any way of getting any of it back? One last thing I've tried is dd command from terminal, no dice. If this requires a third party piece of software or sending the discs out I am willing to do that, please suggest a company if possible. Much thanks to those who help!
