The Sony Clié line of handhelds will no longer be offered in the United States.

I wonder what impact this news might have on near-term prices for the Sony PDAs?

Thank God, I hated those commercials with that dad trying to sound french by saying Cliee. I actually liked the sound of it being called a Clee. Whatever, just bantering.

I DO think this points to the fact that Apple should not produce a PDA, I like Job's point of view on this, oversaturated market and slowing demand. Thank God Apple stayed away from it. I would just hope people would stop asking for one and also stop rumoring around it. Christ, do these people realize the investment capital and enormous support goes into PDAs?

Bring me the 21st Century device that buries the PDA. What it is, I don't know, but I hate cell phones, PDA, Flash based MP3 players, DV players/recorders. So many little annoying gadgets that are narrow focused functions.

I use my iPod to listen to music on the subway, check phones numbers and long term to do lists. Birthdays and holidays, the occasional game, and it let's me know how late I am to work and wakes me up in the morning. Plus, I know I have backed up files in case my computer crashes hard or my apartment burns. All that I want more is to carry movies to friends houses to watch (hook the ipod into their tv) and watch reruns of Scrubs and maybe even Lord of the Ring.
I'm from the government and I'm here to help

I confess I was one of the ones hoping for a revival of the Newton, but that doesn't mean Apple will actually do it. It's just that I'm mad at PalmSource for planning to drop native Mac support in the Garnet (PalmOS 6) release, and would love to have a native Apple solution that supports iCal/AddressBook/Mail perfectly.

How many times must one mention that Apple's market is not the same as the PCs. An Apple PDA would be bought by Mac loyalists who want to take their data on the road where a laptop isn't useful. Why is it we go on about how our puters are the BMWs of the industry so it doesnt matter if we got 3% but when it comes to the Apple PDA we change rules? The mp3 player market is the most saturated. That didn't stop the iPod.
There are many young rightwing members on these forums proud to support Bush no matter what. If Bush is re-elected I'd like to see the look on these member's faces when they are drafted. Now watch this drive.

a 3G Aple Mobile would kick ass. Currently no 3G phones on the market support Macs, despite many being powered by the 3G Quicktime Codec.

Shame, I got a palm Zire 71 and I love it but Sony really kept Palm on their toes with both hardware and software.

Some of the current Sony hardware is awesome.

Indeed. Which PDA with built-in Wi-Fi would you rather buy: the Clié TJ37 for $299 or the Tungsten C for $399?

So if I want a good looking PDA to compliment my Mac, what do I have to get? Don't like Palm and not stupid enough to get the PPC devices.

Hmmm. I would suggest the Sharp Zaurus, but its Mac support is very thin (only a few open-sourcers and hackers would dare attempt it).

Palm used to suck but the Zire 71 and 72 are awesome.
