I can't find one (SD/MMC both or either) of these anywhere to use for faster transers (than usb 1.1) whith my KodaK DX6490 and My G4 Cube.
Does ayone make one of these?
If not, how can I get faster transfers from my Camera to my Cube, I've heard of compatibility cards/adpator that might let me use a SD or MMC card with a different type of flash ( e.g Compact Flash etc) card reader.
Do this work? Any recomendations?

I'm guessing the Cube doesn't have USB 2.0, right? Can you upgrade this somehow? Does the Cube have at least one PCI slot? I think the high-speed card readers are mostly USB 2.0.
Also, I'm not sure what the real read speed is on these cards. USB 2.0 might be useless if the read speed on the card is too slow. From what I've heard (I saw an article somewhere), even within a given class of card the transfer speeds can vary quite a bit.
Ah yes, it was on dpreview.com. Check out this article. It only talks about CompactFlash, but it illustrates my point.

a little off topic, but what would a pcmcia card reader's speed be like?
i have the 15" powerbook and i read about a new pc card reader, sounds neat since i have no need for the pc card slot and it would free up a usb slot.
to get back on topic.
my friend has a 12" powerbook with usb 2. the last time i did any digital camera importing was on my ibook on usb 1. both of our photos were roughly the same size and the usb 2 imported noticeably faster. it might not have been 20 times (or what ever the difference between usb 1 and 2 is) but it was faster.

Please remember that unlike CompactFlash (and MemoryStick Pro), SD/MMC are not particularly fast memory cards, and will not benefit very much from being on a FW interface.

Wow cheers for finding the firewire readers, I live in the UK, but really appreciate the effort.
Is this really true about SD/ cards being significantly slower than Compact Flash, what about speed relative to all the other flash based formats?
Are you saying I will see a negligible transfer speed over firewire Vs USB 1.1, I find this really hard to believe considering how many USB 2 readers there are.
I've also found a review of this Firewire Card reader which states it transferred over 450MB of data in 2 Minutes from a 512MB SD card.
Since I'm in the UK though I think I'll have to find a CF2 to SD/MMA adaptor and use it with a Firewire CF reader, has anyone done this?

It doesn't really cost the manufacturers anything to update their readers from USB 1.1 to USB 2.
Will you see a difference? Yes. Will it be a HUGE difference? No.
