iPhoto won't import these avi movie clips and my camera doesn't "mount" so I can brouse it to drag these files to the desktop. How can I get them off the camera and onto the powerbook through the USB connection? Thanks!
BTW: It's a Canon powershot S30.

either get a media card reader or use Image Capture (in your applications folder) and set your Canon Camera to PTP in settings > Communication

I have a Canon Powershot A80 and use iPhoto for photos and Image Capture to copy the remaining movie files to the hard drive.

No, if it's not mounting, then it means it's already set to PTP. If the camera also has a Mass Storage setting, then it can mount, and the movies can then be copied in the Finder.

ImageCapture will copy pics to your "Pictures" directory, and movies to your "Movies" directory (in "Home"). Piece of cake.

PS. I don't use iPhoto at all
PPS. Canon S230
